I'm still playing around with AI art for covers and have mocked these examples up.
Given how Wombo works, and the difficulty when it comes to human figures/faces, I think it's best to fully lean into the abstract aspects. I'm also hoping I might be able to lure some more mainstream horror readers over, and I think the usual smiling anime succubus might scare them off.
I think these are better than the Christmas example, but are they good enough?
(The Freedom one I think is, Halloween and Remembrance are borderline, but might be abstract enough to get away with it.)
The Halloween succubus cover should be changed. The succubus on the pumpkin looked a bit too cartoony. That Wombo image definitely fits well.

Delete1. Sammy will probably be the only human girl. The leech is one of the story monsters I want to port over. It won't be Brite riding it but another witch. The lore on that isn't finalised. As I've said many times before, I hate the "vampire super powers" trope, so it's not possible for humans to become succubi. It is possible for witches/warlocks to be corrupted past the point they can considered human, so that's likely what this harlot will be.
2. Yup, that's the plan. I'm concentrating on getting the basic scenarios done. There are some that already lend themselves to repeat visits (eg the rivalry between Mamilla & Assphyxia). I'm also planning to keep a slot or two open for each faction and that will have a patron vote to determine which harlot gets a repeat visit option.

DeleteI've been rereading the Succubus Summoning series, and Rosa having her smartphone, and that Succubus Orgy story where one of the succubi complained about no one showing up for 96 years, has made me imagine 2 story ideas:
ReplyDelete1. A succubus really gets into human pop culture stuff. Yeah she may be a succubus who'll fuck your brains out and drain your soul with a smile, but she's also a fangirl type.
So it makes me imagine a scenario where a fanboy of a series (book, tv, etc) she likes accidentally somehow summons her, she's about to do her seducing thing (being of course a seductive temptress), and then she notices stuff like a super rare poster she would've wanted or maybe super rare collectible stuff she would've wanted but couldn't get, and realizes she has found a fellow enthusiast (maybe her succubi friends/compatriots just can't understand why she is into stuff like this).
So it's like they strike up a sex friendship/relationship of sorts based on shared interests and mindblowing sex (from her to him). :D
2. A succubus gets accidentally summoned by a really good marketing agent and from the experience learn to rely on more than just a succubus's natural ability to appeal to men.
Like learning how to tailor their approach via studying a target's culture or interests to really hit them hard with seduction. :D
1. would be fun, but tricky to get right. Very easy for that to end up being a little cringey. There are a few touches of it in the SS universe. Carney being a heavy metal fan who likes Slayer. I think I also have scene ideas jotted down that would reveal Nyte really likes the old Hellraiser movies.
Delete2. would be more of a struggle, at least for me to write. I've never been a fan of "Succubus learning to succ" stories. While potentially fun, it detracts from the fantasy of a creature of overwhelming sexuality.
Oh yeah! Verde did pull out a phone. I wonder if the succubi and daemons will have magic powered space ships and laser guns but I feel that Big H doesn't want his succubi to go in the WH40K direction.

Probably not too techy. I think if I was going that route the "succubi" would be more explicitly aliens and have tech designed to overwhelm with pleasure. Potentially a fun universe to write, I just have too many other things going on at the moment! :)
DeleteThis might be silly to ask, but what kind of background music would you choose M.E for when a succubus or lust daemon is banging and draining a human male? You know how there's a catchy tune that plays when Luka loses a fight and is getting sexually assaulted? The same as the MC from Three Charms.
