House of Hellish Harlots v0.050 (Toxina Luxú-Sapo)

The public version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to v0.050.  This adds one new harlot scenario.

Toxina loves a good sexy wrestle in the mud.  She is, however, the 'poison frog' harlot, so special care must be taken while playing with her...

Toxina is pretty tough.  She's maybe one of the harder Tier 3s.  She'll probably kill you a lot, but at least it will be fun.

October and November were a little messy as I'm also working on the upgraded version of HoHH with graphics.  I'm a little late with scheduled updates there.

Patrons and Subscribers received the delayed v0.051 release a few days ago.  This adds Sister Squeeze from my short story "Squeezed" as a new harlot scenario.  As with the pre-existing characters like Eve Satana and Acarina, her scenario is a mix of new material and rewritten old material.

I'm hoping to get "November's" release out mid-December and then get back to regular schedule at the end of December.

Commissioning artwork of harlots is going well.  I have art of most of the 'smother' faction now.  To aid me funding it, I've created additional $5 and $10 tiers on Patreon and SubscribeStar.  Subscribers to that tier will get an early look at the new art as well as access to my original scripts and a deep dive into the lore background and inspiration behind each harlot.  Support at this level is to help me convert HoHH to a proper indie game with artwork, and is much appreciated.

Harlot Art - Suffocatrix Assphyxia

I've been getting artwork of harlots commissioned as I look to take House of Hellish Harlots away from being a text-only game and give it actual graphics.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.049 (Squidgii and Squishii)

The public version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to v0.049.  This adds a new harlot scenario:

Squidgii and Squishii
This is an adorable and cuddly pair of creamy slime girls.  As with Brittnee they're meant to balance out the more sinister femme fatale succubi in the House.  Unlike Brittnee, they're Tier 3 and very dangerous.  They're probably going to kill you a lot before you figure them out.  On the other hand, they're completely devoted to giving out pleasure, so their victims at least get a very pleasant Bad End before being ended.

I'm currently in the middle of upgrading HoHH to add graphics, art and a more typical game UI.  Converting the scenarios over is keeping me busy at the moment, hence the single-harlot releases.  I'm starting to get art in of the various harlots.  I'm looking forward to revealing that, but it will likely be through Patreon/SubscribeStar first as I need to raise the money to fund the art commissions.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.048 (Brittnee)

This is a slightly awkward one.

The public version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to v0.048.  You can play it here:

It's slightly awkward because the new harlot added is... Brittnee, who you might have already seen in the public experimental demo.

When I was putting that together, I decided to take three harlots from each faction (plus Morticia), so the selection algorithm could work for 3 rounds without breaking.  The criteria for picking those harlots was was, in order, 1) they had artwork, 2) were Tier 1 easy harlots, and 3) had scenarios where the code was straightforward and easy to port over.

Brittnee fit 2) and 3) pretty well, so into the experimental release she went.  What I'd forgotten is that I'd only just put her out for the patreon/subscribestar release, and she hadn't had her public debut yet.  Never mind.  Schedules are schedules.  I hope you don't mind this month's release being on the anticlimactic side.

Currently my work is split between adding new content and porting existing content over to the newer HoHH1.5 version with fancy backgrounds, portraits, and (some) harlot pinup art.  As a result, I'm still in single-harlot release mode for new releases.

Yesterday, subscribers on Patreon and SubscribeStar received v0.050.  This adds the new 'poison frog' harlot, Toxina Luxú-Sapo.  She likes a sexy mud wrestle.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.047 (Mistress Eve Satana)

The public version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to 0.047.  You can play it here:

This is a bit of a special release as it adds Mistress Eve Satana, the succubus from my short story "The Biggest Tits in the World".  She's a special case compared to the others.  She's a visiting succubus and doesn't have a room, so she'll invite the player to join her for a very special stage show.

Just don't get too absorbed in admiring her lovely big tits...

I had to make a few code changes to the core module to account for her scenario not taking place in her room, as well as a tweak to The Elegant Woman's code for... reasons...

I should note this is still the plain-text version of HoHH.  I did a ton of work in August on the new version with graphics.  The core code for that is now in place and tested.  I still need to port all the existing harlots across.  Once I've caught up, I'll switch over to the new fancy version.  The current demo (with 16 harlots and some art) can be played under the 'experimental' tag.

House of Hellish Harlots - Mid-2023 Roadmap pt2

(Pt 1, covering the writing, is here.)

We're getting near the end of August, so I thought I'd drop part 2 of my mid-2023 roadmap for House of Hellish Harlots.  The first concerned the writing left to do, which originally was all HoHH was going to be.  Since then I've experimented with Twine enough to improve the display and add art.  It now looks closer to a regular game.  Despite this, text will be the focus, and the project will remain 'words words words' plus the occasional picture to brighten things up.

This is what I think I need to do, or rather commission other people to do:

This can be divided into 5 areas:
- Title Screen + Logo
- UI
- Harlot pinup art
- Character Portraits
- Backgrounds

I have some ideas - either the exterior of the House, or maybe curtains across the stage.  Either way, I'll need to find an artist for it.  I tried the AI art approach... and it wasn't good.  One option could be to reuse harlot art.  A lot of DLSite games take this approach where they cut and paste a mob of sprites from the game on the cover.  I need a background and I need some nice titles spelling out the name of the game.

This is the collection of icons at the top left of the screen (and top right, if you're playing on mobile).  It displays various player stats ('health', round number, money) as well as buttons to bring up the character sheet or sav/load menu.  I cobbled it together out of various bits of AI art.  It's functional and does the job of presenting that information to the player, but it isn't good.  Getting someone to redo the art and integrate it all within a nice panel (maybe curtains, maybe a batwing) is a high priority.

If I had infinite money and resources, the ideal version of HoHH would have animations for every different sex act carried out by every harlot.  Sadly, I don't have infinite money and resources.  HoHH also has a lot of characters, way way more than a typical hentai monster girl game.  What I'm going to try to do is commission a single pinup for each harlot.  Even that will likely be expensive as HoHH will probably end up with around 100 harlots.  I've put enough funds aside to start the ball rolling, but will likely need to look for additional funding at some point to avoid being left dangerously out of pocket.  Any suggestions there welcome.  Maybe higher subscription tiers?  An adopt-a-harlot push for patrons/subscribers to directly fund their favorites?

I have started negotiations here with an artist for the first pieces.  Fingers crossed that will prove fruitful.

This is one area where AI art seems to be fine.  Female NPCs will get overhauled when I commission pinups for their scenarios.  I might just leave the car NPCs and Portly Gentleman as is.

Backgrounds is also an area where the AI art is adequate.  Ideally I'd like to replace them with proper art, and might need to do this if I want to put the game on Steam.  It will come down to resources.  I'd rather focus the limited funds on creating nice harlot art, especially as the backgrounds will likely be more expensive to commission.  If fundraising goes really well, and there's money left over, maybe...

There are also a few other potential areas to add art/graphics.  This would be for the vendor NPCs - charms, potions and ailment cures.  It would be better if the player was selecting from a point'n'click shelf of icons rather than a list of text.  The same is true for gift selection before entering the harlot's room.

I have some ideas there and might experiment.  I put these as weak maybes.  Maybe for a hypothetical HoHH 2.

Music and sound fx is something I haven't put much thought to.  Maybe the stock ejaculation sound.  Maybe some ambient background noise.  Maybe the same stock music every RPGMaker monster girl H-game seems to use.

I'm not going to put any thought to it for now.  If the game project starts shaping up to be good enough for something like a Steam release, I probably should add some sounds and music.  Everything else is a higher priority at the moment, so it's off the table until it needs to be on the table.

The core game logic is pretty much all in place.

What might be needed is a bit of optimisation and polish - for instance delaying showing text of a new area until the background jpg has finished loading in.  I'll try to figure this out myself, but at some point might need to get an expert in to iron out the last wrinkles.

I might also need a second pair of eyes when it comes to packaging the game up as a game on Steam or app on mobile.  That's uncharted territory for me, and I'd be terrified of fucking up something basic.

Anyway, that's an approximate roadmap for the fancier parts of HoHH.  The ideal goal is a fully complete game I can release on Steam/DLSite.  However, I'm also aware a lot of monster girl hentai games have big ambitions and then end up becoming bogged down and never finishing.  If I feel I'm out of my depth and it's not something I can realistically do, I'll pare it back down to a simple text project with the odd picture to brighten things up.

This is a little vaguer as it covers aspects I'm not going to be in personal control of.  If you want clarification or further details, ask away below.

House of Hellish Harlots 1.5 - v0.001 demo

After a fairly intensive month of so of hacking html, css, js, and Twine, I finally have a playable demo of House of Hellish Harlots ready.

This is pretty much similar to the early demos I put out for the plain-text version.  The demo stops after 3 rounds and there are only 16 harlots for now.  The main difference is that each part of the House has its own background art, each NPC has a portrait and some harlots have pinup art I'm borrowing from old commissions.  There is also a rudimentary UI panel cobbled together from chunks of AI art.  It's the same text and underlying core mechanics, but presented in a better way.

The art is all placeholders at the moment.  The portraits and backgrounds are serviceable.  The harlot art is great, but was not originally commissioned for this purpose, so don't get too attached to it.  The UI is admittedly terrible and one of the first things I'm looking to overhaul.

It is playable, but might be a little rough in spots, especially on mobile devices.

I'm also regretting not giving it a proper title screen.  Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with the interim attempts and wanted to get the demo out there.  As with the UI elements, getting a proper artist in and commissioning a nice 'cover page' is a very high priority.

While it is a sideways step in some respects, it doesn't take long to port the existing harlots across (I did the 16 here in just over a week).  It shouldn't take too long to bring the other 60 across and push the playable round count up.

Then there is the longer (and expensive!) step of commissioning artists to bring the characters to life with a 'pinup' piece for each harlot.

House of Hellish Harlots - Mid-2023 Roadmap pt1

I posted this earlier this morning on Patreon and SubscribeStar, then switched it to public, then thought I might as well post it here.

Time to take stock of where I'm at with House of Hellish Harlots.  I figured I'd put a couple of roadmaps, one focusing on the writing side of things (which I'll be doing) and the other on plans for art and other assets (which I'll need to outsource and pay for).

First off with the writing and this is going to focus on the harlots.

Regular Harlots
Currently there are 74 harlots completed and present in the House, some with multiple scenarios.

There are 8 regular harlot slots left to fill.  Of those, one is a repeat scenario (Assphyxia), two are in progress (poison frog, forbidden smotherer), and two are roughly planned out (Sister Squeeze, a wide-eyed 'waif' succubus).

That leaves 3 slots.  Two of those I'm thinking of throwing open to patron polls to give an existing harlot in the faction (sensuality and classic) a repeat visit and different scene.  That leaves one slot open in the 'classic succubus' faction.  I'll fill that once I get a cool idea that fits (another performance in the bar or Sandy's tormentor are currently floating around)

I'd also like to add another neutral harlot that will basically be a rewrite of elements of Nicole's waterbed massage scene from "Locked in with a Succubus"

That's the minimum count of regular harlots to add.  Because of how the project is designed, I can add more than that, and new factions as well, but that will wait until after a version 1.0 is out.

Mini-Boss Harlots
Now we come to the mini-boss harlots that show up in rounds 5 and 9.  These are more powerful members of their respective factions.  They will likely be harlots with 3-5 different scenes.  This is to give them some repeat playability as the player will need to go through them multiple times to experience all their scenes.

Of those I need 10 - 2 per faction.

Of that 10 I have 7-8 roughly planned out in my head.  Current ideas include Temptacia (finally!), a slime nun, a latex-weaving arachne, an artificial scylla, a harem of imps, a fluffy-tailed kitsune, and Amoebella Glup.  The tentative 8th might be a nautical-themed huntmistress.

This leaves 2 mini-bosses for me to figure out.

Faction Queens
Lastly we have the end-bosses, or queens, for each faction.  This is the round 13 encounter and determines the overall game ending.  They will also have multiple sex acts, but will likely be sequential and how much the player sees will likely be determined by some kind of 'devotion' attribute.

I have pretty solid ideas for 3 of the queens.  I have a name for the smother queen, but haven't figured out what she is yet.  Classic succubus is still wide open.  That might be The Madam, but I also have other thoughts on where to use her.

I'll also need to give the 3 lore NPCs (Barman, Madam and Elegant Woman) enough dialogue to guide the player through the later rounds.

Writing-wise, this is the bare minimum I need to complete the game to a 1.0 release.

There are, however, a few things I really want to add, and probably will add unless I feel the project is dragging on and needs to be brought to a conclusion.

These are:

Post-room random events
These are just randomly occurring events that might provide bonuses, hindrances, or advance some side quests.

I want them, as I think they'll improve the game, but they're also not essential. 

Harlot team-ups
I have ideas for letting a couple of harlots double-team a player.  These might be related to side quests that result in the player unlocking an alternative round 9 encounter for a particular faction.  Ones I have rough ideas for are Mamilla & Assphyxia, Calliophi & her sister, Aphrou and Sapoonis, and the two huntmistresses.

NPC scenarios
Originally, I was thinking these would belong to a different faction and be a regular or mini-boss encounter from that faction.  The Doctoress is a clear fit for the artificial beings faction, then it gets messy.  Elegant Woman, Madam and Buxom Lolibaba all probably want to be in the 'classic succubus' faction and I can't really see Nurse Honey belonging to any faction other than her own.

I don't think I can tease Nurse Honey in the game and not let her do anything sexy, so she will definitely get a scene, and will probably be a severe late-game threat to the player on most playthroughs.

As for the others... I want to give them scenes, but it's working out where to put them.

This is what is needed for the writing.  There's still a fair bit to do, but I estimate I'm around the 75% done mark.  This ended up being a bigger project than originally planned because I put more into the individual harlot scenarios.  They are better as a result, but each is the length of a short story and takes about the same amount of time to write.

Despite this, I've kept a fairly steady release schedule.  I understand people have concerns about overly ambitious Western eroge projects never getting finished, so I hope this - and my new-release-every-month schedule - will reassure them that I do work on this in a professional manner and do have a clear endpoint in mind.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.046 (N3P-NTHes and Aphroú Kanáta ton Ouránia)

As it's the start of a new month, I've updated the public version of House of Hellish Harlots to a new version.

v0.046 has a carnivorous pitcher plant girl theme as both new harlots are variations on that type of monster girl.

N3P-NTHes is another artificial being, this time modelled on pitcher plant lust daemons.  Unfortunately, she's one of The Doctoress's early creations and she neglected some aspects of her personality.  If you want to be brutally drained in a femdom way, N3P-NTHes is very good at that.

Perhaps a little too good...

Aphroú Kanáta ton Ouránia
Aphroú is a more conventional pitcher plant monster girl.  Her pitcher is filled with soapy water and feels like being in a relaxing hot tub full of bubblebath.

But be wary of getting too relaxed...

Similar to Sapoonis, I gave Aphroú a classical Greek appearance.  There's a decent chance the two might have a team-up scenario at some point, as Sapoonis joining the player in Aphroú's pitcher has a lot of potential for frothy fun.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.044 (N'gleria Sepiida)

The public version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to v0.044.  You can play it here:

This adds one new harlot, an ailment and charm associated with the harlot, and a few housekeeping changes to move some harlots over to the correct faction.

The new harlot is a little... unusual.  She has a regular sex scene and a very weird scene inspired from some monster girl artwork I saw floating around the internet a few years ago.

She looks like an exotic alien babe with tentacles for hair.

She absolutely does not eat brains.  The Madam would like you to know any talk of such is nothing more than scurrilous hearsay.  Ahem.

I like to keep readers on their toes.  I hope you have fun with her, weird as she is.

As always, the Patreon and SubscribeStar versions are a couple of releases ahead.  They received v0.047 yesterday.  This marks the long-awaited arrival of Eve Satana to the House.  If you recognise the name from my stories, yes it is her.  She brings the 'Biggest Tits in the World' to the House and a special stage show the player should be careful they don't get too absorbed in...

A Succubus Game in Dev that might be worth following - Situation Succ: Inn Elysium

This one fell onto my radar in a (sort of) complicated and unexpected manner.  It also got me to dip my toes into Discord, which I should have done a long time ago.

The game's name is "Situation Succ: Inn Elysium" and you can find the website here:

The character art and animation already looks very promising.

The plot has an investigator arrive at a mysterious hotel as part of a missing persons case, only to find themselves on the dinner plate of four seductive and very hungry succubi.  The player will have to solve various puzzles to try and escape before midnight (or just give in and let the succubi have fun with the MC, I know what you filthy animals are like!).

The game is leaning on the horror side, so the succubi are as deadly as they are seductive.  The horror is more on the fun 'drain you to a dry-fish' side rather than the more boring 'rip out human hearts and eat them' side.

There is a time loop, so it's fine.  The MC can get snu-snued over and over and watch on in terror as the life is slowly sucked from his body.  He'll be fine.

Wait.  A time loop.  A clock and a time limit.  Where have I seen that bef--

Coincidence.  Pure coincidence.

If you played and enjoyed Tokinokogiri's "Succubus Prison", this is a project you'll want to keep an eye on.  I was also impressed with the art and animation I saw.  It reminded me of SQDT's "Succubus Academia", which had top-notch succubus and monster girl H-scenes.

Despite the look, this is a Western Dev team who want to bring the Japanese Succ over here.  This means you won't have to worry about fumbling around with machine translation or pixelated bits.

I know this might be a concern for some.  Sadly, Succubus and Monster Girl lovers haven't had much luck when it comes to Western H-game projects.  I have more hope on this one.  For one, it has a full team behind it and a war chest of funding to kick things off.  I was also given a little sneak peek of some behind-scenes stuff and was very impressed with what I was shown.  From a writing perspective, the succubus characters seem distinct and well-defined.  They also have differing goals and desires which will likely drive the overall plot.  What I saw gave me the impression of an idea that has 'come together', and that is a great starting point to launch from.

Do not disturb the sleeping succ...

That said, the usual caveats apply.  GameDev is hard.  Even with the best intentions and good resources, unforeseen things can happen and cause a project to come a cropper.  Manage hype and expectations accordingly.

This is very early in, but from what I saw, it sounds like a lot of the foundations and planning has already been done.  As for timescale for release, I don't think that was mentioned, but I saw an estimate of around a year, which seems sensible.  If you want to support the project and keep a closer eye on development, they have a page on SubscribeStar here.  You can also follow them on twitter @SituationSucc

House of Hellish Harlots v0.043 (Cyane, Lagona Voluptes)

The public version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to v0.043.  You can play it here:

You may notice I've skipped v0.042.  This is because Cyane was originally v0.042 and Lagona Voluptes v0.043.  I was feeling ahead of schedule so I combined them into one release.

I think this is also the first release after I restructured the project and broke it down into separate modules.  As far as I know it should still work the same as before, but let me know if you run into anything screwy.

As for the new harlots, this release has a slightly more vorish theme as both will happily eat the player up if they're not careful.

Cyane is my take on a jellyfish monster girl.  She was originally an idea for a level-drain monster for a HRPG, where she'd trap a player in her bell and slowly suck out their "levels".  I thought she'd fit in HoHH as well, so I gave her a scenario.  She's very ladylike for a jellyfish.  She respects the Madam's rules and doesn't eat gentlemen.

Make sure you're a gentleman!

Lagona Voluptes
Lagona Voluptes is a fleshpot pitcher plant girl.  Similar to the usual carnivorous plant monster girl, but her pitcher is a little comfier to be inside.  I try to vary the characters of the girls, so Lagona is a bit eccentric compared to the usual cold seductive predator succubi.  Despite this, she's a very dangerous harlot that won't show up until the later rounds in the finished game.  It should be pretty easy to figure out what you need to survive her though.

New(ish) Short Story: "A Bubble, Popped"

This is continuing my ongoing project to update the old H-space Bestiary shorts into proper short stories.  This time I took the "Bubble-Tail Succubus" story and filled in how Bate ended up in the bedroom of the succubus.

These are temporary exclusives.  My plan is to start putting out ebook collections once I've updated enough of the old stories.  If you wish to support me in the meantime, you can get them early on Patreon and SubscribeStar (as well as access to the latest House of Hellish Harlots updates a couple of months before the public release).

As with a lot of the H-space stories, this is firmly weird pulp sex horror.  The ending is a little nasty (as is the case with a lot of the H-space stories).

Harlot Art - Sapoonismenee Nerei

Here is some more lovely harlot art, again from the Atlantis27/Thraeh combo.  This time a player taking a hot bath with the lovely water nymph Sapoonismenee Nerei.  I'm guessing this player had DEX 5 and got plenty of Sapoonis's special foam in the body-to-body massage that followed. ;)

It's nice to see more details of the opulent luxury of some of the harlot's rooms.

I do have plans for a tentative team-up where Sapoonis and Aphroú double-team the player.  Then I remember that won't mean anything to anyone as Aphroú hasn't actually been released yet.  (You should get a chance to play with her in the v0.47 release scheduled for the end of the month.)

House of Hellish Harlots v0.041 (Lady Flumpth, Restructuring)

I've updated the public version of House of Hellish Harlots to v0.041.  You can play it here:

On the surface it's another small release, adding just one new harlot.

The rather disreputable (and mouldy) Lady Flumpth doesn't put much stock in The Madam's 'rules' or 'fair play'.  Thankfully, while the stat requirements are reasonably high to escape her 'trap' for an intended early tier harlot, there are enough ways to dodge coming to a sticky end (a bit literally with her), so it should be fairly easy.

The reason for the one-harlot releases for a couple of months is because I had to restructure the project under the hood.  It had grown too large for the Twine editor to handle it without heavy lag, so I split it into 7 sub-projects and are now using Tweego to reassemble it into a single file.  It seems to be working and patrons haven't noticed anything breaking.  If something has been missed, let me know below.

The Patreon and SubscribeStar releases are still a few versions ahead.  I gave them v0.044 yesterday.  This is also a single harlot release - the very weird N'gleria Sepiida.

I'm currently engaged in a couple of months of solid short story writing to put a 7th collection together.  I do have multiple HoHH releases queued up over this period, but they will be small releases until I get the 7th collection out of the way.  After that I'm hoping to push on and add the more complex 'mini-boss' harlots.

New(ish) Short Story: Men are from Mars, Mantraps are from Venus

One of my ongoing background projects is to take the old H-space bestiary shorts I wrote a few years back and beef them up into proper short stories.  The latest is available on Patreon/SubscribeStar.

This is another temporary exclusive.  I'm slowly working through the old H-space bestiary stories.  At some point I'll have enough to start gathering them into ebook collections for Amazon and other places.

This was originally the Venus Mantrap story.  I fleshed out the background to explain how the soldiers got there and also to try and build up the classic "Green Hell" jungle atmosphere.

As with the original, the ending is pretty icky, so watch out for that one.  I do like to push the horror a little bit more with the H-space stories.

In case people are wondering, I don't have a good track record with H-space stories getting accepted on Literotica.  They're usually a little nastier than my regular horror stories and the scarlet imps tend to get a story bounced whenever they show up.  As a result I don't bother posting them there (but do still plan to post other stories).  It's also nice to have some exclusive content I can hold back for patrons/subscribers.  a writer has to eat, so all support gratefully accepted!

Hentai Game Re-Review: Domination Quest 1

Technically, I reviewed this one a while back.  I was in the mood to play a naughty JRPG-type game and remembered the sequel, Domination Quest 2, had come out a month or so ago.  Similar to Monmusu Quest, you can port the old save across, but as that save was many years and a few laptops ago, I decided to play through again rather than try to excavate it from a forgotten hard drive.

Turns out I needed to anyway, as it was only on rereading my original review that I remembered I never completed the first game.  Despite this, and after completing it this time, I don't think I was too far off with what I originally wrote.

I did reach the final boss this time.

The major change is that whatever bugs blighted it before, don't appear to be present now.  I didn't encounter any crashes during my second playthrough.  The other sticking point, and what caused me to abandon my original playthrough in the misty forest area, was the frequency of combat encounters.  That felt like it had been dialled back.  They're still reasonably frequent, but not so frequent that you can barely move without triggering another combat encounter.

Onto the game itself.  Mechanically, it's a turn-based JRPG.  It has the look of a RPGMaker game, but reverse-engineered into Unity.  While this is a little odd, the game does make use of the 3D environments to do some things you wouldn't see in a regular RPGMaker game.

You play as Kuro, who as a dominator has the ability to shrink monster girls down, gobble them up and then recruit them as allies.  Like Pokémon, but weirder and pervier.

Probably best not to ask...

Kuro doesn't have much in the way of fighting power, so you have to rely on a party of monster girls to do it for you.  You have a party of four and a bench of four you can sub in and out.  Along with health bars, the monster girls have stamina bars that are constantly decreasing every turn.  When they run low, they have to 'snack' on Kuro to get their energy back up or get knocked out.  This is where the bulk of the in-combat H-content comes from, as Kuro's allies take a break to blowjob or do some other sex act on him to get their energy levels back up again.

Most of the combat is regular turn-based JRPG, where if you lose you just get a regular GAME OVER scene rather than a sexy Bad End.  There are some elites and boss encounters that are an exception to this.  At some point they'll try and grab Kuro and drain his energy directly, and you have to rely on your allies to hit the opponent enough times to force them to let him go.  As I said in my original review, it's a shame this mechanic isn't used more.

The other areas of H-content are scenes that are unlocked after increasing affection with your allies, and a skinship mechanic where you get carried around by one of your allies in a lewd manner.  That's fun, but the animation does block a good portion of the side of the screen, so might get in the way while exploring a new area.

It feels quite pleasant until your feet start to dissolve...

The story doesn't have too much to it.  It's a standard fantasy setting with humans coexisting with horny monster girls.  Kuro is just about to start his adventuring career when his powerful succubus (dragon?) partner is mind-controlled and snatched by a nefarious group looking to stoke tensions between humans and monsters.  The game is about trying to get her back and breaking the control the enemy demon lord wannabe has over her.

The mechanics are fine.  It's JRPG light with lots of vore themes.  Kuro can't carry weapons and neither does his monster girls, but there's a crafting system where you combine weapons with crystals to boost your party's abilities.  Mostly it's just stat boosts, but some weapons can either defend against or inflict status effects.  It's a nice system, but a little limited.  Adding a chance of instant death to multi-hit attacks was about the most exciting 'combo' I could find.  It would have been nice to have a little more variety here.  I like a bit of greed in my RPGs, so I missed having the usual options to manipulate XP gain, Gold gain, item drop frequency, etc.

As for the themes, it's a Kokage no Izumi game.  This circle likes giantesses, vore, and crude humour.  As I said in the original review, if you like your monster girls on the giant side and with heapings of vore, this is perfect for you.  If those elements leave you cold, there is enough 'regular' monster girl content to make it worth a glance, but it is a little deeper into its chosen fetish zone than something like Monmusu Quest.

Giant farting fairies are pretty much a staple of this circle's work.

In all, it's about 10 hours of reasonable JRPG, with 28 or so sexy(ish) monster girls to have fun with.

As I said in the original review, one of the monster girls (the carnivorous plant girl) gave me inspiration for a short story ("The Banquet of the Queen of the Goblins"), and if I can get a short story out of a hentai game, I consider it a win.  Hopefully, I'll find something that gets the creative juices flowing in the sequel.

Harlot Art - The Madam

I must admit, The Madam is one of the characters I have problems with visualising.  She's supposed to be at once both very old and doddering, while at the same time still looking quite hot and very fuckable.  That generally sends my imagination haywire.  Although, in theory, if she was a character in a movie or anime, the way to show that would be to have an early-thirtysomething (and attractive actress) play her with the mannerisms of a far older person.

I think the art does a good job of depicting that.  Old hairstyle and decadent courtesan dress, young face.  And, in the lingerie pose - a very voluptuous and sexy body.

And as for The Madam getting a proper scene in the House, that's something I still haven't finalised.  She could just as easily show up as an extra NPC encounter, the queen of one of the factions, or even the final 'boss' the player has to survive in order to escape the House.  I haven't decided yet.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.040

There was a v0.039 put out at the start of March.  Somehow, in all the usual PR posts I do across the internet to promote a new release, I forgot to update my own blog.  Never mind.

If you didn't check it out at the time, v0.039 added 3 new harlots: Negralima-V, N-Carnizadalama, and Cerastesia.

v0.040 just adds the one new harlot: Hati Krim.  She's a blue-skinned alien (-looking) babe that specialises in erotic cream massage.

Around this time I was experimenting with Tweego to restructure the project into separate modules to stop the main Twine Editor lagging to death through the size of the project.  I'm glad to say those experiments appear to have worked, so that's one potential future roadblock removed.

New(ish) Short Story for Patrons: A Comfy Pink Cushionblob

I've just put out a new(ish) H-space monster girl story for Patreon and SubscribeStar.

One of my current ongoing projects is to take the old H-space Bestiary shorts (you can find them on here if you go back far enough) and spruce them up into "proper" short stories.  This is the "Pink Cushionblob" story.  In this case the new part might apply more than the ish part.  The original was the 3rd in the H-space Bestiary series and barely 1,500 words.  The new one is three times that.  I've bumped up the background lore and aspects of (this) Bate's character.  I also extended the sex scene.

The original was originally in the low priority bucket.  The first few Bestiary shorts don't give me a lot to work with and I'd used a pink cushionblob slime girl already in the Volumpula CYOA.  (And a story I've had stuck in progress for a long while also features one.)

It was a little fiddly to update, almost being a complete rewrite.

Yes, it is currently paywalled on Patreon/SubscribeStar.  Writer have to pay bills.

I've updated a few of these now, with more on the way, so there is a decent chance they will be collected together into a themed ebook collection at some point.

Hentai Game Review: Mage Kanade's Futanari Dungeon Quest

I've reviewed a fair few Dieselmine H-games over the years, most prominently the Violated Hero series.  They were always light on gameplay and usually pretty good on art.  Nowadays they seem to be in a really weird place.  They probably have one of the most gifted smut artists/animators around, L Buffer, working for them, but don't really seem to know what to do with him.

Unlike its predecessor, A Lose Hero in the Castle of the Succubi, which was pretty much a glorified gallery where you walked from H-scene to H-scene, Mage Kanade's Futanari Dungeon Quest is technically a game, just about.  You have an attack button, a dodge button, and have to navigate fights and timed puzzles.

I'm not into futa, so originally didn't have much interest in this.  Then I saw some clips floating around on porn sites and was lured in.  What can I say, I have a weakness for sexy squishy slime girls.

They got me.  They knew my weakness...

The one area I'm sort of okay with futa is futa protagonists having their 'weak point' targeted by sexy (and importantly, non-futa) succubi and monster girls.  And in this, the protagonist is pretty much functionally a dude with how the various monster girls treat them.  I suspect the only reason they made the protagonist a futa is to double up on the ryona audience by showing a sexy chick with big tits getting slimed.

That's one of the features of the game.  There is a large panel on the right that shows the negative statuses currently affecting the protagonist.

I played this untranslated, so I'm not 100% on the plot.  A sexy female wizard chases a succubus to some ruins.  After entering she gets tricked and hit by some magic that gives her a cock.  Then she has to navigate her way past various erotic traps and monster girls that are bent on wanking her into a stupor.

The game is quite inventive on that, to be fair.  The first level has you trying to avoid gas and boob traps while fighting off disembodied wank hands and paizuri tits.  The second is full of lascivious slime.  The game gets across the theme of an erotic trap dungeon fairly well and the boss fights are pretty good.  By the 4th level it starts to become obvious the devs are running out of steam.  The traps and timed puzzles go away and are replaced with lazy battles versus hordes of horny bunny girls.  The 5th is a replay of the boss fights, but with the 'lead' succubus of the level involved directly.

As with a lot of Dieselmine games, there is a lack of ambition.  The early levels and boss fights are pretty good, but it's very short and feels more like a demo or proof of concept.

Art is variable.  The L Buffer animations are excellent as always.  I was less impressed with Bad End H-scenes.  The art on those was a little too cartoony and the proportions on some of the succubi ended up looking weirdly grotesque rather than sexy.

Sorry luv, you're just not my type.

As with most of the recent Dieselmine succubus and monster girl games, it's pretty much a showcase gallery for L Buffer's talents.  Those are good as always, but the whole thing is probably a little on the pricy side for what you get.  It's a shame Dieselmine can't seem to put those talents to better use.  Other devs would salivate at the prospect of having this sprite work in their games.

(If I could get a artist/animator as good as this to provide some graphics for The House of Hellish Harlots...)

The erotic traps are interesting, at least for the early levels.  I'm currently brainstorming a SexDungeon project for #Dungeon23 over on Patreon (and SubscribeStar).  This has given me a few ideas for things to work in, like the Boob "Wall of Death".  Mage Kanade's Futanari Dungeon Quest is maybe a little expensive for what it is, but it's fun and given me a few ideas, so checking it out was not a complete waste.

Beware the "Wall of Boob"...

Milking Farm is probably still the peak of the L Buffer/Dieselmine era, even if that also only had rudimentary run 'n' hide gameplay.

House of Hellish Harlots website is fixed?

I think it might be fixed.  After ringing around it seems like a cached version got stuck somewhere.  I got them to manually clear it on Friday.  Rang them again today when I wasn't seeing any changes on my test machine.  Was made to look rather foolish when clearing the local browser cache/viewing in an incognito window and did see the updated version.

You might also notice a few changes.  There is an option to play the latest version, but this is password protected with the password given out on Patreon/SubscribeStar.

The public build is also available.  This should now be at v0.038.

While I've been focused on the website, I thought it would be a good time to cross some other things off the ToDo list.  There is now a small harlot gallery featuring artwork I and others (okay, just Mark45 at the moment) have had commissioned of some of the harlots.  I'm hoping to add to it.

There's also a tab with all my books.  Man's gotta pay bills and eat.

Anyway, hopefully the issues are over and the website is now updated for everyone.  (If not, try clearing your local browser cache or an incognito window.  You'll know you have the new version as there are now 2 "Play" buttons on the welcome page - latest and public.)

As we've established, I'm pretty much a rank amateur when it comes to the web design side of things, so if you run into issues - eg pictures loading too slowly because I put the wrong file up, let me know in the comments below.  Any feedback much appreciated.

House of Hellish Harlots Website still not updating

Yup, I'm aware of it.

I can see the lack of updating on my backup laptop, so I can at least track the problem now (rather than being in blissful ignorance as it looks fine on my regular computer).

I phoned the contest host people on Friday, but whatever they tried doesn't appear to have worked, so I'll keep pestering them today and over the week until it's fixed.

While I was mucking around with the website, I made a few updates.  More on that when people can actually see them!

For now I see many phone calls and waiting on hold in my future. :'(

Still Working on House of Hellish Harlots Update Problem

This one still has me baffled.  I managed to bring a geriatric old laptop out of decommission, so I'm seeing what everyone else is seeing - the Changelog has updated to v0.038, but pressing "play" loads up v0.037.

I've tried flushing the cache on wordpress and a temporary kludge fix of creating a new page to hold the embedded twine.  Neither seems to have worked, so I'm scratching my head.

I'll keep at it and see if I can get this fixed.  Any helpful comments that have an idea of what the problem might be are much appreciated.

ETA: Still mystified.  Tried flushing the cache.  Tried switching CDN on and off.

It doesn't appear to be just the play game section.  I made some further updates to the changelog page to fix the background image in place.  That doesn't show up on my other laptop either.  At the moment it seems like every change isn't being propagated out and I have no idea why.

I'll keep working on it.

Try Again with House of Hellish Harlots - This Time to v0.039

Okay, something seems to have gone wrong with the last public update of House of Hellish Harlots.  Enough people have reported only seeing v0.037, so it looks like something didn't go through.

I'm still not entirely sure what's gone wrong.  I did notice that Elementor appears to have taken control of the shortcode text box I was using to load in the embedded Twine .html, which it wasn't before.

I've tried updating to v0.039 (just the embedded file, not the changelog).

I now see v0.039 when I load up and hit play.  What do you see?

Are People Having Problems with the new House of Hellish Harlots v0.038 Release?

I thought I'd make a post on this as I've received multiple comments on it.

If you check the House of Hellish Harlots website and hit play, are you seeing v0.037 or v0.038?

On the 1st of the month I did as I always do, uploaded v0.038 and hit update, then deleted v0.037 from the file system (because the game file is pretty big).  When I check, I see v0.038.

A lot of people are reporting they're only seeing v0.037.  I don't know if this problem is still occurring or what might have caused it.

Anyone with more web experience know what it might be?

(My guess would be people are seeing an old version cached somewhere, but my web-design-fu isn't good enough to be 100% on it.)

House of Hellish Harlots v0.038

A new month, a new House of Hellish Harlots release.

The public website demo is now up to v0.038.

This adds:
- New Harlot: The energy bunny Leppi Navitas.
- Repeat visit functionality for Succuba.
- Amoura D'Coeur's much more dangerous repeat visit scenario.

The second half of Amoura D'Couer's scenario is something I know people have been waiting for for a while, so I hope it delivers.

House of Hellish Harlots v0.037

Happy New Year!

New year, new release.

The public demo version of House of Hellish Harlots has been updated to v0.037.  You can play it here:

I was busy that month writing the "In The Red Light Backrooms" (long) short story, so this is a fairly short update that adds one new harlot to the House.

She is a blue-skinned suckerboob (they originally appeared in a H-space Bestiary short).  Her name describes pretty much what she is and does.  Don't be fooled by her friendly disposition.  How to survive her is fairly cryptic, so expect to be drained to death by her lovely boobs more than once.

Patreon and SubscribeStar are two releases ahead.  I dropped v0.039 on them last night.  After a couple of lean monthly releases I spent more time on HoHH in December.  v0.039 adds 3 new harlots - the black and red artificial being 'symbiotes' Negralima-V and N-Carnizadalama, and the dancing lamia Cerastesia.

Overall 2022 felt pretty good for me writing-wise.  House of Hellish Harlots has turned out to be a much bigger project than originally intended, but I've kind of accepted that and just kept plugging away at it in a reasonably disciplined manner.  It now has 64 harlots in there, and each scenario is about the same length as a regular short story.  That's a lot of sexy succubi and monster girls!

After Excessica closed down, I republished all my old ebooks under my own personal account with new covers.  It was good to get them back up.  I still need to make those available as paperbacks, so hopefully early in 2023.  The same for a 7th collection.  I need to write 4 new stories.  That didn't quite happen at the end of 2022 as I got distracted and wrote "In The Red Light Backrooms" instead.  On the positive side, that means less stories needed for 8th/9th collections, but I would like to get a 7th collection out ASAP.  It has been a while since I've put a new book out.

Anyway, we're now in 2023 and I hope it will be wonderful for everyone!
