Open version of "Escape Volumpula, the Pink Jelly" is live!

As I said I would last week, I've posted "Escape Volumpula, the Pink Jelly" up on philome.la for everyone to play.  You can enjoy it here.

I'm still not sure what is and isn't allowed on philome.  I put in a few links to my Patreon (because I do like getting paid to write these and it's a good incentive to make me write more. hint hint. ;) ).  Some websites can be a little iffy about that, so I'll keep an eye out and resubmit a linkless version if the first gets bounced.

Putting a week's delay on the general release seems like a good balance between rewarding patrons for their contributions while not shutting out entirely people that can't contribute for whatever reason, so I'll continue doing it (maybe eventually migrating the CYOAs to my own web domain).

I hope you enjoy playing with Volumpula.  Writing her took a little longer than I anticipated, but the scenario is out now and I hope the wait was worth it.  Please let me know what you think in the comments below.

As I mentioned before.  I'm in the brainstorming/planning phase for the next scenario.  However, there are a couple of short stories I'd like to finish first, so those will likely be my priority for the rest of the month.

In the meantime, I'm sure Volumpula will take very good care of you...

Thank you from me too. I'm going to just go... do my enjoyment of that then.

  2. Just wondering, how many good and bad endings are there? Also, can I get a little help with the good endings? I've tried so many times, but the only one I managed to find was the back massage.

  3. So...the protagonist is aware of the 'game', and overall rules, but not why he is participating or how monster girls tie into it? And about the girls themselves: are they prisoners of this game? Sure, they can have fun times and feed, but they can't leave their room and are forced to obey the rules, such as seduce/have sex/kill if man comes, let go otherwise, protect the statuette. Can you shed some light on this, Hydra? (I know you won't be spoiling the entire thing ofc, but can you at least lay groundwork for speculation? lol)

    1. It sounds like it isn't so much 'meta' (like the Succubi talking directly to us RL players,) but a game that the various Succubi have agreed upon together.

    2. I haven't worked out the worldbuilding fully yet. I have some ideas, but I'm just leaving various threads open at the moment.

  4. Hey MEHydra, artist here, excellent work. Love the writing as usual, and Volumpula is hot.

Hopefully I'll be doing a fanart soon!

  5. Got through my run-thru for the moment, really enjoyed Volumpula's entry in this little contest. The way she tries to buck the trend, so long as you don't make her angry anyways, also really makes her stand out and be interesting, compared to what's become almost standard for M.E.Hydra's Succubi. Really looking forward to the next entry.

Also, a Monster Girl game recommendation that I've been enjoying and would likely be helpful in waiting for Manyeyedhydra's next work:

    https://monstergirldreams.blogspot.com/?zx=eb4b65194635b0bd

Monster Girl Dreams, a free Visual Novel type game I found through the forums on Fenoxo's site (the maker of Corruption of Champions and Trials in Tainted Space.) They recently started adding pictures to the game, used to be all text, but still pretty fun.

You basically start out as your typical fantasy style adventurer graduating from adventurer school and being sent to the continent that's home to the Monster Lord in hopes of defeating her... only to find out that the current Monster Lord has cast a powerful spell on the continent she calls home that ensures that no one can physically harm each other, only interact sexually. So the MC's school-taught abilities are mostly useless, and suddenly he has to learn to battle-fuck. Fun game so far, not hard to figure out either, just talk to everyone in town before adventuring.

  6. Been trying for a while, but I can't seem to get that darn trophy. I wonder if it's even obtainable. If so, the way to do so must be pretty obscure. Even turning on the charm on hard mode didn't do it. This is getting confusing.

    1. I'm betting it's buried inside Volumpula, and that getting it might require you to reach into her.

    2. Still no idea.... and i think i covered all tests :(

      Anyone any hints?

    3. Ok, I think I've treid out anything that makes the slightest sense:

Tried to be nice (and charm her)
Tried to be nice and when your reached fucking try to leave
      Tried to make her angry
Tried to make her use her "evil core" (via arm or tits), then escape
Tried the above and then bite her (hoping her core is her treasure and you can suck it out of her tits, once she has placed it there)
Tried to let yourself almost get engulfed and then break free

Nothing worked. Either her treasure is unobtainable, or the way to get it is so convoluted that you have to try out every possible combination of choices in the game, until you get it, what seems to me like a giant waste of time, as long as I don't even know for sure, that there is a way.

  7. Does anyone know how many ends there are? And does anyone know how many good ends there are? And how do you get these good ends?

  8. The next CYOA should be about ur short story "The Biggest Tits in the world"

    1. That could work. The succubus would have restrictions on when she could absorb the player. Could make an interesting scenario where the player is trying to avoid being both pinned, and having their arousal sent high enough for the succubus to boob-absorb them.

      Delete
    2. Nurse Honey would also make a good enemy for the CYOA. After all she rather tends to absorb her "prey", than to do it the "normal" way like Verde, Rosa...

And it is exactly in this absorption process where the player could escape.

Then again this would kinda take away from what she is representing in Succubus Summoning. The one succubus that will kill you 100% no matter what (unless your name is Phil).

PS: I have a question regarding Nurse Honey. Her ability to absorb people makes her very unique, because no other succubus has done that so far. And in that she kinda represents a slime girl in some way. Is it correct to assume that there is more to Nurse Honey? Like a slime girl/succubus hybrid, or is that just coincidence?

    3. Verde and Rosa would like to claim they're just regular succubi. They are not being strictly truthful...

    4. I'm subbing on Patreon for this story, and BTITW would just be another reason. I'm just waiting for someone to find the trophy...

    5. I have found and obtained the trophy. So there is a way. But I think this is not the place and to me to give any hints.

    6. Only one? I found five! But of course I'm not gonna tell you how...

  9. Hell of a job dude. Keep up the good work

  10. I'm REALLy glad that there are Good endings in this. I particularly enjoy how you can tell straight up you'd like to be with her but you're afraid of the consequences.

I also like how after choosing that and in a few other moments she drops the act and get real with you on how she thinks about the whole situation.

On a run i went out of my way and got a "(Very) Bad End" i was wondering... is there a "(Very) Good End"? i'd like that!

Also i have NO IDEA on how to get the trophy.

On a side note, Manyeyehydra, if you could, i'd like it if it were possible to somehow track the choices you've already made to make it easier to find new dialogue, it doesn't need to be something explicit or direct but some thing like: you get a green symbol at the corner of the page if you've already chose every option of this scenario and you'll get an yellow symbol if there is an option in this scenario you have not chosen yet.Or anything like that.

    anyways, great CYOA!

  11. Cheers for the comments. Glad you're liking it (and no-one's reported any bugs, which is always good!). I'll probably put a full post up on Monday. Last week I ended up being a little... distracted. :D

  12. Thank you for making this. I wish there had been more partial escape stages with choices where the player is being attacked by volumpula as they try to run away, the endings felt very abrupt, making is seem like not much happened, though I know you put a lot of work into it, it just didn't feel like there was more than the previous Escape from Arachnae despite the longer development time.

  15. I finally managed to obtain the trophy :)

Here's a walkthrough. It's rot13 encrypted (just google for rot13, you should find a online decrypter) to not spoil those who want to search it for themselves (I hope the software doen't auto-delete comments with "garbage text"):

    1. Yup, that is correct, and yup, guilty as charged.

I did plan to channel the difficulty of the old Fighting Fantasy books as I wrote more of these scenarios. I didn't expect to get there with the second scenario. :D

That said, I'm still happy with how it turned out. A bit of fiendishness was always part of the old Fighting Fantasy books (although I will try to keep probabilities fairer than in the notorious "Crypt of the Sorcerer").
