As title. I spent June working on getting my old ebook collections ready for re-publication.
I did write a few more harlot 1st drafts, so patrons will be getting a choice of which ones to add first in a few days.
The first collection, "A Succubus for Christmas" should be back up in a couple of weeks. I'll start hyping that up as soon as I've uploaded it to Amazon.
July should be back to normal with a new "House of Hellish Harlots" update at the end of it.
That's fine. A quick break from the House to work on other projects is good. Although I do have a question. Will you post the Polls on the Blog, or no its Patreon exclusive? Even if you won't let bloggers vote, could you at least post what kind of harlots are going to be in the poll? Who are the harlots for July?

ReplyDeleteI love the Posh succubi simply because they are a walking contradiction. They act like stuck up and refined fair ladies like the Tall Vamp lady from Resident Evil Village and then a moment later, they are behaving like dick hungry horny sluts.
1. Hey Hydra, I'm a bit confused at why Rosa couldn't bang Phil while he was covered in Nurse Honey's honey. Rosa said something about the honey being too sweet for her. What would happen if she screwed a human covered in the honey?
2. What was the deal with the Pride daemon that was judging Phil? If she sensed any ego or pride in him, would she just straight up rip out this soul and be in her way, even with Rosa and Verde being there.
3. Is it true that Phil is now considered a full fledge warlock by Hell's standards? Or no the succubi are just lying. To me it feels too soon or it just shows how stupid and incompetent the magic college is.
Posh on the outside and filthy slutty on the inside is a classic combo. I originally had a different plan for the huntresses, but continuing the theme shown with Diana seems too strong to ignore.

2) It was pretty much a formality. Phil is chronically lacking in self-confidence, so not really anyone the Dominion of Pride would be interested in. If it was closer, they would have likely set up a test similar to what happened with Puff and Pfaffle (Sloth-tinged lust daemons). I haven't really done a proper pride-tinged lust daemon. I suspect they'd be very focused on appearance and having men 'worship' them.
3) Maybe not fully fledged, but passed the baseline where the daemons think an agreement would have more value than just snatching the soul right away. The magic college is a mix. Most warlocks don't properly understand the master-daemon relationship, but I might flesh it out so it's not completely incompetent (warlocks like the Scrote and the Headmaster seem to have some idea of what they're doing with daemons).
1) What's the strength and speed level of the succubi? Like if Carny is fast enough to tear a guy's arms off faster than they can blink, how strong are the succubi?

3) How about Cerluea. When she was eating with Phil, was she eating all of the food at super speed? And was she in actual danger and could have been killed by Mr G?
4) Can Verde and Rosa physically over power a normal grown man? I feel like they need to dope the man up on sex drugs to get close.
With Nyte...no question there. She's the most broken and overpowered succubus in the group.
1) Varies on the daemon as seen with the H-space stories. Carny is a high-level wrath daemon. Wrath daemons like fighting and he's a powerful one - i.e. not one to get on the wrong side of.
DeleteThe succubi vary, but I don't like the super-strength tropes that crop up in vampire fiction, so they're slightly stronger than a human of similar build. What I prefer to use is that the succubi tend to use their sexual desires to subconsciously get men to pull punches and secretly want to lose, so they seem stronger in a physical fight than they actually are. If they were fighting a crazed madman with no interest in screwing them at all, it would quickly become apparent they're not that much stronger than a regular human (with some exceptions).
2) Probably not, but they'd likely regenerate from most bullet wounds. Most of the powerful daemons would have an emergency 'jump' back to their plane if they felt they were in serious danger.
3) She wasn't in any danger from Mr G. Phil, however...
4) As with the answer above, they'd rely on their supernatural sex appeal to have the man handicap themselves. Remove that and they're about average. The main problem is that the man wouldn't be fighting them. Rosa would be setting them on fire and Verde would be summoning vines to strangle them.
Nyte is an exception. She's regarded as a bit of a freak as has been hinted at multiple times.
I will say the chapter with Phil eating with Cerluea bothered me a bit because of how confusing it was.

-Is Elegant Woman a general succubus, or Pride leaning lust daemon?
-Was it actually Cerluea eating all the food on the table really fast, or someone else?
-So Mr G was in on it with Cerluea testing Phil? How was she not in danger with the giant mouths coming for her and him? The Glutton test doesn't seem that hard actually...everyone is going to run when seeing large mouths coming for them.
-Does Cerluea know that Phil is a bit "different" after he came out of the pitcher plant girl? Would she killed him if he is?
-Did Cerluea purposely take the form of a flapper girl to help with Phil's test and turn down her sexiness, or was it random. It would have been interesting if it was the sex goddess form or the dummy mommy form she briefly took when she was teaching Phil.

Yeah I do agree that the strength and speed of the succubi varies on how strong and old they are. Nurse Honey and Nyte might be strong and old, but i don't want them to be throwing around cars, especially Nurse Honey.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't seem like a brawler, more like a succubus that tries to appear all nice and friendly, but then "consumes" you without mercy. If she had to fight a human, she would most likely just blast him with sex magic and leave him distracted enough to get close and absorb him.
Lets compare and contrast a weak succubus from a strong one.
Corene is weak because she needs to take the time massaging her paralysis oil on a human male to make him helpless and docile. She's so weak that she admitted that she can easily be killed by a normal human and she even admitted she was genuinely scared of the human serial killer.
Nyte is strong one because she not only knows how to fight, but:
Being a bit masochist gives her extra super toughness (the electrocution collar only made her horny and didn't really inflict any meaningful damage on her) she even gets turned on from getting struck by Verde's acid whip.
Has super speed (she hit Phil with a whip and didn't even see her move)
Has the strength to easily overpower a grown man and rip a kid warlock to pieces with her bare hands.
A high level Wrath daemon like Carny respects her, scared away another Wrath daemon, scared away Boobella, the Spider daemon girl bowed to her and kissed her, isn't bothered by Cerluea's antics.
Killed a teen warlock girl from a infamous warlock family and left no witnesses.
Can turn a person to ash by touching/kissing them and doesn't need sex.
Jesus after going through all that, Nyte is indeed pretty broken. The only supposed "weakness" she had is that she can't lie. I wonder how that's going to come into play later and i wonder if a warlock is going to exploit that
Yeah, I might have juiced Nyte up a little too much to be fair. Phil's succubi are a lot more powerful than they let on, but I might need to establish some proper power comparisons at some point.

ReplyDeleteIt's in "Halloween Nyte" and he deserved it. I tend to reserve that sort of end for when the succubus dislikes the person so much they won't even give them pleasurable death-by-snu-snu. (While not shown, I suspect that's how Nicole disposes of the ones she doesn't like). That's generally only for the succubi with 'standards'. Most succubi are going to drain through sex because I'm writing the scenes and I think the drain-through-kiss thing is more for mainstream interpretations where the creator has more limitations on what they can depict. If you can be XXX-rated, succubi should do XXX-rated things. ;)
DeleteYou seem to be quite against turning human women into succubi. A human turning into a monster can be played for Drama and Horror. A good example of this is the new Supermassive Game that came out recently called The Quarry.
ReplyDeleteThe people get bitten by werewolves and turn into one. But there isn't any "Im a cool werewolf and I got kool powerz!" moment. Its played for Horror a the person loses all of their humanity and hunts and kills innocent people. Think American Werewolf in London.
Or like in Hellraiser with the British soldier guy turning into a ctenbite.

I touched on that in the "Serving the Earth Mother" short story. (A girl is turned into a succubus and forced to kill her boyfriend to finalise the process).

ReplyDeleteIt started out strong but it not only ends too quickly, there is no closure and most of your choices don't matter. For example, it doesn't matter how nice or an asshole the female camp counselor acts towards the creepy cop, he won't kill you tell the very end after you kill his mom. You being a considerate nice guy or an aggressive tough guy doesn't matter in till you make that ONE important choice.
The surviving characters don't get to meet, the romantic relationships between characters to nowhere, and of course, the women are more stronger and competent than the men (the muscular dudebro character is a bumbling idiot that doesn't know how to use a gun and of course the skinny woman that's smaller than him is competent and good at combat).
Is it better than Until Dawn? No. But it as better than Man of Medan.
They always keep doing that shit bro. Of course the sassy and skinny girl who is shorter than everyone is the better fighter. The whole "Final Girl" thing was started because it was seen as impressive for the woman/girl to survive or kill the bad guy in the Horror story. Its not that meaningful if you expect the muscular tough guy to be the competent one.

Mainstream Western creatives are pretty hamstrung at the moment and seem in constant terror of a small, perpetually outraged minority on Twitter. It's why the same tiresome tropes keep showing up over and over.
DeleteEli Roth is flawed in some regards, but is usually very good at upending expectations on who lives or dies in horror films. The first two Hostel films both had the virtuous 'final girl/boy' character brutally killed off early. I think it needs a mainstream horror creator to do that - kill the sassy girlboss character off first in the same way old horror films would usually take out the jock first as they were the most physically competent and dangerous to the killer. I think there's still too much terror around to break the rules of "The Message". I keep thinking it will crack, but it keeps going on and on, sadly.
Hey Hydra! I am curious about the technical side of HoHH. What was the hardest and easiest harlot to implement?
ReplyDeleteThe technical side is fairly easy. Twine isn't the most complex to program. For that type of language it's probably more important to be organised and make sure everything is clear and compartmentalised. The selection algorithm is slightly more complex than just selecting 3 harlots at random. I also got in a muddle implementing the NPCs at the start. The harlots are fairly straightforward. I have a template I use. The writing of the scenarios is the most time-consuming. Repeat scenarios (especially with having the characters remembering the previous visits) turned out to be very tricky, which is why I don't do it with the new harlots unless it's plot-relevant.

There was a room he could use the bathtub to clean himself and he was being fed by unseen castle "servants" but where was the toilets to do his business? Did Phil had to pee and shit in Verde's garden.

There are toilets. The succubi probably need and use them as well. Maybe. I'm never quite sure if I need to make that apply for more supernatural/magical beings. It probably needs to happen for water/hard-sports, and while those aren't personal turn-ons for me, lust daemons cater to every imaginable fetish.
DeleteNurse Honey isn't strong enough to throw cars. Bullets wouldn't really do anything to her, so she probably wouldn't even need to dodge them.
Cerulea is a bit more flexible when it comes to the 'rules' of reality. She's governed by other laws.
Im curious Hydra. Just got done doing every Harlot scenario and im wondering if you are ever going to add a harlot that is like Nyte. One that likes to give humans both agony and pleasure?

If I implement random events, there is going to be one where Nyte is chatting pleasantly with the Madam. They both keep to personal 'codes' and respect the concept of 'fair play', so I imagine they'd get on quite well.
DeleteI would like to add a harlot like Nyte (or maybe even a guest appearance from Nyte). The problem is I'm a bit of wuss when it comes to that aspect of BDSM. I like the look and quite like bondage, but tend to avoid the more painful stuff. I can write the pain-as-pain stuff fine, but I'm not as confident I can pull off the pain-as-pleasure stuff.
