I was aiming for more conventional spooks and scares, so the dial of Erotic Horror is turned more towards the Horror/Weird end. There is a nice succubus sex scene, so I didn't leave the erotica off entirely. The story is inspired by the Backrooms stuff, but only the basic idea. It's not intended to use, adapt or extend any of the existing lore. If somebody wants to take the idea and run with it further, feel free (just age gate it appropriately!).

DeleteI don't know if that makes them weaker than the other succubi in my stories or whether this location even fits in with the rest. I thought it would make for a stronger story if the succubus didn't kill Damien in one go, so I went with it.
I wonder if waiting for the "blackout monster" would be the painful but at least quick way out, or actually worse than spending your lifetime wandering the maze while gradually being robbed of your soul.
ReplyDeleteWorse than the succubi. The hint I left at the end of the story is that the blackout monsters are those that have had their souls fully consumed. They then roam the corridors looking for a soul to replace the one they've lost. So being caught by one would likely see a person getting their soul yanked out without all the fun sex stuff.
