More thanks to Jude Duval for commissioning this piece of Nÿte from ArbuzBudesh. It was actually done a couple of months ago, but I have been a little AWOL recently as you might have noticed... :)
ArbuzBudesh creates a regular webcomic, Price For Freedom, which you can check out here. The Lady Wolf character that shows up later in that serial might be of interest to people that like their demon femdom on the more extreme side.
There are other variants in Jude Duval's DeviantArt gallery. An interesting byproduct of these art commissions is it's made me aware of areas where I haven't been as precise in character description as I could be.

DeleteYeah, this is exactly what I meant. I like the Nyte commissions but personally they don't quite 'feel' like Nyte to me, not the way the Nurse Honey commission 'feels' like Nurse Honey.
ReplyDeleteThe Nurse Honey pic has an almost alien quality to it that seemed to feature prominently in most descriptions of her. Whereas with Nyte I would've expected a more... S&Mish feeling? A combination of sadistic and masochistic, which I'm pretty sure is what S&M stands for. Truthful, she sounds like the full picture of what Clive Barker may have pictured with the Cenobites, though no tilted purely to horror as Barker did (though that's certainly there, too... )
Barker and Hellraiser were a big influence on me, so this isn't surprising. I wanted her to have a similar moral ambiguity to Pinhead in the early films (before sequels turned him into a standard cookie-cutter horror-movie monster villain).

DeleteInferno (the fifth Hellraiser film) is a hidden gem. It isn't very Barker-esque- more of an oddball film noir/Christian morality tale pastiche- but very effective for what it is.

Yup, Inferno had some nice ideas. Both V and VI played with the concept of using Pinhead as an utterly alien cosmic judge, but suffered from not having enough Pinhead (and shoestring budgets).
DeleteYeah I'm going to admit. It could of been better other than the lips it was spot on. The mistake that I did was the outfit. Nyte is an extreme Sadomasochistic. Similar to pinhead except more beautiful and terrifying. I should have taken my time when it came to choosing her outfit. Something that would have match her personality. Instead I pick this outfit because well it was made out of leather. That was a mistake on my part(and forgetting that night where a Black lipstick.
DeleteNyte is supposed to look like a demonic, frighteningly dangerous but alluring sadist. A mixture of fear and desire, with fear typically winning out, her beauty the only reason to not flee every time she walks towards Phil.
ReplyDeleteHarder to draw probably, but my mental image is to make her more other worldly. Nurse Honey actually achieves that more, although I'd even switch them around, since Nurse Honey's regular description is that of "an angel". Whereas Nyte is more described with what I wrote.
Yeah that was my mistake. Will in my defense I can say this. The person that did this piece ArbuzBudesh did a fantastic job. He didn't miss up. That was my fault fault for choosing the wrong outfit for Nyte. The reason why I chose ArbuzBudesh is because he has a comic call the price of freedom (http://pff-comic.tumblr.com/post/139914494123) He has a character call Lady Wolf ( http://www.hentai-foundry.com/pictures/user/ebluberry/466760/Lady-Wolf---Art-trade-with-ArbuzBudesh)who to me feels similar to Nyte. He was and still is the perfect person to draw Nyte! The second mistake was that I didn't request him to read the Succubus Summoning series. The reason why Nurse Honey turn out well. Was because not did RaidouZero read the Succubus Summoning series,it turns out that Nurse Honey was his favorite Succubus in the series. I will be Commissioning RaidouZero to draw the rest of Phil Succubi including Nyte,and more.

-Nyte is supposed to look like a mature woman. Why does she look like a teenager?
-Where is her whip?
-Her boobs are kind of small. In my headcanon, Nytes boobs are bigger than Rosa and Verde, but not as big as Nurse Honey.
-She isn't curvy enough.
Okay, that's everything I can think of. However, I still love the picture. I don't think it is terrible.
Yeah I hear you. Will I do have good news of sort. RaidouZero the one who drew Nurse Honey. I will be Commissioning him to draw the rest of Phil Succubi including Nyte. Plus since Nyte is my Favorite Succubus in the series. I would also be Commissioning other Artist to draw Nyte. So expect more Artwork from her😄
DeleteWhile the artwork is fantastic Nyte is supposed to be a powerful dominant sadist who should be terrifyingly alien. There is a softness to the features of the commissioned face that don't really say Nyte to me. I imagine Nyte with sharp aristocratic cheekbones and facial features. I also agree that she should be more curvy.

DeleteStill, it's a nice piece of art and it's interesting to see alternative interpretations of the character.
As a writer as well I would be absolutely stoked that people liked my characters enough to commission people to have artwork done of them.

ReplyDeleteTo MEH, while being aware of your own work and possibly limits of your work I hope in your reflection of your descriptions that you are taking into account the fact that these pieces were drawn by someone ( Who may or may not be already familiar with you ) going off of details by a another person. Only the artist and the commissioner know what details were given from what stories. Not only in appearance but demeanor. From re-reading, "A Chance Glance in a Student Bar", I'd almost say Nÿte is "techincal" in how she works. You see her and while you question her intent you would never EVER question whether she knows what she's doing.
Peronally in terms of her appearance, I'll admit that my vision of her is influenced by Stjepen Sejic's depiction of Allison from Sunstone. Specifically her outfit on the cover of Volume 3. Maybe just a abit more... blessed if that word could ever be applied to Nÿte.
Now remember when you introduced Nurse Honey you did happen to go into a better bit of detail regarding her, and all in one go I might add, however I would still factor the artist's ( RaidouZERO ) personal style traits as well. Plus Nurse Honey is dressed as something that anyone who's ever been to a drunken Halloween party has probably seen. Though, has there ever been a Not-Drunken Halloween party?
All-in-all, I can't knock ArbuzBudesh for the piece(s) as it one of those cases were opinions and assholes are in equal amount: everyone has one.
Plus, I got introduced to "Price For Freedom" so Yay Me!
