Succubus Summoning 213, part 8

Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5Part 6, Part 7

Rosa looked at Verdé.  "What happened to you?"

"Playtime with some bedmistresses from the Palace of Infernal and Iniquitous Pleasures," Verdé said.

Rosa raised an eyebrow at Verdé before continuing on with her introduction of the armoured daemon standing at her side.

"Anyway, I found someone.  Valkarykarynarökris Helvargan will give our novice his final—"

The armoured daemon, Valkarykarynarökris, stared at Phil with piercing blue eyes.  Her gaze was so intense Phil had the uncomfortable feeling she was stripping the skin, flesh and bone away to stare right through to what lay beneath.

"It is not necessary," Valkarykarynarökris said, cutting Rosa off mid-sentence.

Then she turned on her heels and left the room through the portal Cέrμləa had created, leaving two speechless succubi and a baffled Phil behind.

"My, how rude," Verdé said.

"That's pride daemons for you," Rosa said.  "No wonder no-one likes them."

She looked at Phil.

"Do you think it counts?" she asked Verdé.

"I think so," Verdé said.  "Is that all of them now?"

"Hmm, let me see," Rosa said.  "Carnivrillarofax... Mr G... Ûmūn Šag..."  She counted them off on her fingers.  "...Puff and Pfaffle... Cέrμləa."

"Tsk, Ab'ĝalga," Verdé corrected.

"Ab'ĝalga," Rosa repeated.  "And Valkarykarynarökris Helvargan just now.  I think that's all of them.  Well, aside from that dominion."

"No-one counts that dominion," Verdé said.

Phil listened to them without having the slightest idea what they were talking about.  He had other things on his mind.  He kept glancing nervously at the door, expecting a vengeful Astrapia and friends to burst through the door at any moment.

"Well, if that is all of them..."

"Then..."

Both turned to Phil with broad smiles on their faces.

"Congratulations, fledgling.  You are now officially a warlock."

"Um, isn't that something the college determines after seven years?" Phil said.

The two succubi laughed.

"This calls for a celebration," Rosa said.  "Let's go find some yummy students and screw them to—"

"Meditate," Verdé interrupted.

Rosa glanced at Phil.  "Oh yes, meditate."  She looked Verdé over.  "You look like you could do with a spot of meditation."

"The bedmistresses play a little rough," Verdé said.

Rosa raised an eyebrow again.

Phil said.  He glanced again at his door.  "Shouldn't we be worried about those bedmistresses?"

"It will be fine," Verdé said.  "Little skirmishes like this are a regular part of the daemon world.  They rarely go further."

"If you're worried we can have Nÿte talk to Mother Diabolica," Rosa said.  "She might even let Nÿte bring one back for you to play with.  Was there one in particular you'd like to fuck?"

Phil didn't have the slightest clue how to respond to that, so he didn't.

Fortunately he didn't have to, as a young girl with blue hair, horns and red eyes appeared on the other side of the doorway to hell.

"Ah, Cέrμləa is here to give you your lesson for the day," Verdé said.  "We'll leave you with her while we go off and..." she shared a glance with Rosa.  "...meditate."

"Yes, and discuss some other things," Rosa said, giving Verdé a pointed stare.

"I know what they mean by meditate," Phil said after they'd left.  "I'm not that stupid.  It's not as if I could stop them anyway."

"You should be happy," Cέrμləa said.  "Congratulations are in order."

"I don't suppose you feel like explaining what it all means," Phil said.

"Those that would wield daemons must demonstrate they can overcome all their daemons, not just the most prominent," Cέrμləa said.

Phil wrestled with understanding, before giving up.  "Um, I don't suppose you could be more specific?"

"Sure," Cέrμləa said.  "The first daemon a human attracts to them is one that reflects the greatest weakness in their character.  That daemon can grant power, but mostly it's only interested in the human's soul unless the human shows promise.  Weak masters are of no use to us.

"Given you were a lonely, horny teen with no knowledge of the opposite sex, your daemon was always going to come from the Dominion of Lust.  You survived the first trial, but a warlock must prove they can withstand the temptations of all the other dominions.  The exception to this is the eighth, the Dominion of F—"

She put a hand to her mouth.

"Oh wait, it's far too early to talk about that one.  You all should forget I even mentioned it.

"Anyway," she continued.  "You were given trials corresponding to each of the other dominions.  You survived them.  You are now, by the accords of hell, a warlock."

Phil went over her words.  "That was surprisingly clear and understandable," he said.

"It was?" Cέrμləa said.  "Hmm.  Oh well, you should probably take it with a pinch of salt.  I'm not the most reliable when it comes to explanations."

So much for clear and understandable, Phil thought.  Shaking his head he stepped through the portal and back into hell.  At least he was still alive.

Cέrμləa lingered on the threshold and stared through the doorway into Phil's bedroom on Earth.  She reached out with a finger and tapped on the open doorway as if it was a sheet of glass.  Glowing ripples of blue light spread out from the point of contact even though, to all extents and purposes, there was nothing there but empty air.

"Soon," she whispered.

And that's that for the Succubus Summoning 201 arc.  I hope you've all enjoyed it despite the rather infrequent update schedule.  It's not the end of Phil's adventures with deliciously salacious succubi.  I'm going to take a break from this series to write up some other story ideas that have been sitting patiently in the back of my head, but then I'll return with Succubus Summoning 301 to pick up some of the story threads I've deliberately left open.

I'm aiming to collect all the 201 chapters together into an ebook/print book.  Look out for that when it hits Amazon.  (Feedback on the ending or anything is welcome – If I've screwed up here, there's still a chance to fix it before the final book version!)

Thanks for reading!

Next week will be back to the H-space Monster Girl Bestiary shorts.

  1. So does this list sound right then?

    Puff and Pfaffle => (Sloth)
    Cέrμləa / Ab'ĝalga => (Greed)

    1. I got the impression that Lust was decided by his trial at the end of the first 101 series.

    2. Yep, that's correct. Lust was all five vs. Phil at the end of 101. There is also an instance of someone failing a test for all dominions aside from Greed (Darvill passed, and then met an entirely undeserved end because that's how that world is)

  2. Now I love the series. It ties everything together nicely and makes a great leadoff I to the next book. However the only thing that bothers me is the leap that phil took in his confidence. Be went from a bit who didn't understand magic much at all let alone use it against others to one confident in his ability (at least at the time) to one who thrives in in his knowledge. Now I know it was said that he performs best under pressure, but this seems to be bit more of a leap than usually. I am not saying it was wrong way to do it just more of a thrust into the fire instead of brief surges. All in all well done will look forward to reading the finished product. Enjoy your well deserved break from this story.
Side stories are always welcome in between the 301 story if you choose.. Wink wink...
Continuing to look forward to the next set.

    Cheers

    2. This is true (because she'd have eaten Phil). I'll see what I can do on this front.

As for the original comment. It might be something I tweak. He does have a brief surge of confidence after defeating Astrapia and the others, but this is slightly influenced by Astrapia's temptation abilities. Phil underestimates and will likely continue to underestimate his abilities.

Yet another wonderful flavor to the arc. Thank you for the wonderful read and not going George Martin on us! Blue-balls from literature is terrible.

Gonna take a shot at the conjecture; I am wondering if the last dominion is "fate". Where-in Verde's spell something like "kiss" has to some effect altered Phil's fate thereby resulting in conflict with the final dominion. Whatever happens I am sure it will be titillating fun.

  4. I was hoping that Phil would see personally to Verde's...recuperation.

    1. Yep, Verde is going to comprehensibly screw his brains out. There are reasons why she can't actually do it right now, but once those reasons are resolved...

    2. That's right, forgot about that being hinted at in previous chapters. If you are doing any revising, might be worth touching on that again in this one, just to remind the reader.

  6. So the eighth dominion starts with an F, does it?
    ...
Farts, calling it now. The Dominion of Farts.

    1. Yeah I think it's faith. I know he mentioned the dominion of faith in another story. I think it was in "safe sex"?

  9. Hey Mr.Hydra can I ask you a question as a writer? When to Writing a story what the most difficult part for you? What I mean when planning on writing a story. Do find writing the beginning you the start of the story? What about the middle of the story? Or is the near the end of the story do have trouble writing? For me it the beginning and middle that I have problems with

    1. Not any particular point in a story - plots come far easier to me than the actual writing. The biggest snag is on some paragraphs where I know what I want to say and the words/sentences come out a tangled mess. Generally that's when I see multiple ways of writing it, can't work out which way is the "best", and end up with a tangled snarl that can take some time to get past.

    2. In other words you try to write a dialog that more epic then it needs to be? Or is that wrong. I do notice something about writing some times. It hard for me to explain it. You seem to be a clean but enigmatic writer if that makes sense.

  10. Thank you very much for this series hydra. I love seeing cocky and disrespectful students getting bad ends. If you ever get ideas for more side stories of the succubae's 'meditations' don't hesitate to write them and post them. My favorites so far are joey chalk and john brennan. lol

  11. I have a feeling the last dominion is the dominion of fear.
Then Phil will really be in trouble. As submissive and easily intimidated as he acts

  12. I lOOOVE this series, don't make us wait so long for 301... sniff please....

  13. Need more Human characters. Phil is getting jerked around by his demons and the school is more or less useless. He needs some human friends/allies maybe a eccentric teacher who has interest in seeing Phil go far or maybe him and Adriana gain a partnership of benefits or something.

    1. I don't know. MEH has been pretty reliable in maintaining a linkage to the human world as well. The demise of Darvill in the last episode was a bit unexpected as I thought Darvill actually had potential (which is why he died). The reintroduction of Adriana in part 1 of this episode is also interesting. It would be a bit ironic if Phil's first non-demonic sexual encounter was with Adriana.

It might benefit Phil, though consider his reputation in school; his succubi killing fellow students and classmates, his odd survival and the death of anyone who gets to really try to know him. And teachers who have the same image of him because of his rather salacious and uncontrolled succubi. All those plot devices kinda suggest that human connection isn't going to be his thing moving forward.

If you are suggesting he should change it in a literary sense so as to bring a more natural human element to interactions then I have to disagree. The SS arcs lack of sustained human relationships is part of what makes it so fun and novel. I love that the succubi psychology of thought is so alien. It is part of separates hydra from the fanboy copycat artists.

  14. Dear Hydra,

congratulations upon the completion of this arc.

As a loyal reader since "Knight vs Succubus", I can only wonder how far this particular journey has taken you, and your characters - and your readers. Thank you for all your hard work!

Now here comes the monkey's paw :). There is one thing I would totally like to see come out of SS201, but I neither think it fits your tone, nor do I think it at all acceptable to tell a writer "here, pls write this for me". So, to be direct: How open are you to spin-offs? Would you be inclined to be permissive towards someone writing a (not-for-profit, just-getting-it-out-of-their-system) "side chapter"? With due credit to you and all of course.

Again, thanks for everything, and all the best!

    1. I'm fine with this. Go ahead and have fun. All I ask when people do this is to credit the original source (I like having new readers sent my way :) ) and not cause fights over what is/isn't canon or try to torpedo me or other writers if their stories touch upon similar ideas. I love the idea of sharing worlds (and have been impressed by other people's interpretations of H-space, etc recently), but it only works so long as people don't abuse or take advantage of it.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

    2. Hi Hydra,

thanks for this. I'll notify you, of course, and if you wish, run the outline by you for approval.

Not to worry about fights about what is canon. I'm not much one for such controversy.

As for not torpedoing you - I'm not quite sure what you mean, can you elaborate?

All I want is to scratch a particularly mean itch, that out of respect I did not want to even inquire permission for, until 201 had concluded . Totally non-canon and totally non-threatening :D

      All the very best,

      Delete
    3. The not torpedoing bit is from an example that happened a while back and is probably why most authors are wary about fanfic. Can't remember who it was, but there was a legal case where someone wrote fanfic of an author's work and then tried to claim the author had ripped them off because a later book the author put out ran along similar lines. It can put the original creator in an awkward spot if someone borrows their world and takes it along a path the creator was planning to go along anyway. Basically, if I see any hints of this kind of dickery taking place I'll be forced to change my stance.

So that's all I ask of anyone wanting to play around in my settings. Have fun, but don't screw it up for everyone else.

    4. Wow. I had no idea people do things like that; that's just awful.

      Don't worry. I shan't be like that :)

Again thanks, and again thanks, too, for all the suspense and entertainment throughout the (8!!) years

    5. Mr.Hydra wouldn't copyrighting your series protects you from that.

    6. Putting copyright on our stories doesn't stop people from stealing them or doing what Hydra mentioned above, written word is easily stolen sadly.

Hydra was one of the influences behind my writing and he even helped me with my first story. I'll never forget that and always be in his debt!

Hydra I love how you ended ss201 and I look forward to buying the E-book when it is finished

  15. Great read. I've followed this series from the start. You mentioned that some people have written stories using your H-space. Would you be willing to provide any links to their stories. I like visiting your blog rather than searching around the internet for these types of stores (I prefer yours to anything else I've found anyway)
