Let's Play Monmusu Quest: Paradox [part 2] - 46: Fairy's Isle

Beginning

<- Previous: The Open Open Seas

It’s time to take the battle to the monster girl queens.  We’re starting with the Elf Queen for the simple reason the elf and fairy monsters appear earlier in the library than the other three races.  At this point, I’m not sure difficulty matters a great deal.  My Luka hit the level cap many blog posts ago and has mastered nearly every job under the sun.  I only put him in the party now as bait for some of the bosses (which is Luka’s one role in life, to be fair).

The Fairy Isle is just off the coast of Magistea village.  Weirdly, the wandering monster girls out the location are the generic late game encounters of vampire girl and tiger girl.

The dungeon location is the tree in the centre of the forest.  It’s split into three sections – south, north and central.  We enter in the south.  Going either west or east will lead to opposite ends of the north region.  The central region is accessed via vines leading down at the midpoint of the north region.

The dungeon is pretty by JRPG standards, but it’s also mazy, long, and a little tedious.  Unless you’re using the various instant kill combos (which are not guaranteed against some enemies), the fights are way more of a slog than they need to be.

I’m glad I didn’t devote a blog post to the monster girl invasion of each city.  As expected the monster girls hanging around this dungeon are the same new monster girls we saw menacing Grand Noah.

So we get muscly Elf Amazonesses (not entirely sure the ‘ess’ is necessary, game):

Right proper amazons for yer

Gigantic-boobed gigantic girls:

As big as your... you

Extremely stretchy Trick Fairies (you’ll figure it out) and Carbuncle:

A fairy and a... I give up, your guess is as good as mine

I have no idea what carbuncle is.  She has green fur, that weird red eye thing and an extremely suspicious pink orifice in her fluffy tail.

Unsurprisingly, her Bad End move is to vacuum up all of Luka’s cum with her fluffy, sucky tail.

When the fluffy tail fetish goes too far

Gigantic Girl is technically of the elf race.  When I checked her request moves back at the castle after recruiting her, I thought she’d be catering to the giantess vore fetish.  This appears to be a bug in the game.  Her request options are the typical “Predation” and “Predation?” as used for most of the more vore-y girls, but don’t correspond to her actual scenes.

The first is a rerun of her temptation move to bounce Luka around between her ginormous boobs.

Boing boing

The second is to use Luka as a makeshift dildo.

Good sex toys are hard to find when you're this size

Luka does come from this, but then he’ll come from just about anything.

Her giantess scenes will come as a pleasant surprise or disappointment depending on your own personal fetishes (I’m easy—show me big boobs and I’m happy).

The various elf and fairy NPCs we run into do not approve of Queen Elf’s aggressive campaign against the humans.  A possible cause of it is hinted by the elf NPC who can be found next to the vines leading down to the central region.  She describes it as a cloud of malevolent energy hanging over the island.  Or rather, centred on the world tree located to the northwest.

Is this more interference from the shikibus sisters?

The central region is a big lake with green walkways looping around to a central region in the middle.  This is where Queen Elf can be found along with various NPCs.

The centre of Fairy Isle

Currently the NPCs are hostile and refuse to talk to scummy humans.  A couple of them appear to be the blacksmith and merchant, so I suspect they’ll turn friendly and this will become another warp location once we’ve beaten some sense into Queen Elf.  You can also find Queen Fairy here.  She’s getting treatment for the beating we dished out to her in Grand Noah and will stay out of any more fighty stuff.

First, it’s time to take down the boss – Queen Elf:

Queen Elf

Queen Elf is an elf and the elves of MGQ are vulnerable to pleasure attacks.

Or you could just have Alicetroemeria double cast prominence until Queen Elf is crispy-fried...

(I really hope we don’t have to fight her at some point.  She’s only level fortysomething and still way stronger than virtually all my level 60 characters).

After defeating Queen Elf, it’s time for the usual let’s-have-peace conversation.  Queen Elf claims she’s doing all this to protect her territory and race.  Alice calls her out for her isolationism—she never made any effort to sit at the table and talk to the other world powers.

Then there’s a twist.  Two emissaries of Queen Alraune—a walraune and dryad—teleport in.  Queen Alraune has gone over to Black Alice’s side, which shocks Queen Elf as Queen Alraune is supposed to be completely neutral on these matters.

“Black Alice is showing her hand.  How interesting,” says our Black Alice.

I’m really curious to see what happens when she and the other Black Alice finally meet.  What will we get—a grand loon off?

Anyway, it’s time for history to repeat itself.  In the original series we had to spring to Queen Elf’s defence right after beating her, and it’s the same here.  The plant girls think this is a good opportunity to take her—and us—out.

Walraune—“Ha.  You’ll be weak after that battle.”

Um Walraune.  You are a plant girl and plant girls are weak to fire, right?  So I have to ask: Did you not see the inferno mage double casting tier III fire magic?

This fight was not long and grindy.

Dryad watches the turn one incineration and decides she’d rather be elsewhere.

Afterwards Alice talks about the malign influence from the world tree that appears to be affecting everyone here.  Queen Elf casts some magic to purify the island and finally comes to her senses.  This renders all the NPCs friendly and they now serve up various bits of background information.

There is some talk about an elf princess in the mountain region in Yamatai.  She appears to be a bit of a shut-in and those elves don’t have anything to do with these elves.  I suspect we’ll not be seeing her until part 3, which is rather unfortunate as she’s the one holding the job change item to unlock the advanced hunter job.  Another elf tells us Queen Alraune is holding the job change items for Dancer and Minstrel.  Both the merchant and blacksmith are unlocked now, although the blacksmith needs raw prism material to unlock the next tier of equipment.  That can be found in the world tree.

Queen Elf and Queen Fairy will talk to us, but both are still bashed up to be recruited just now.  I think we have to go and deal with Queen Alraune first.

But before then, the game drops a few strong hints that we should go back to Grand Noah and collect a reward from Quuen Noah for pacifying the elves and fairies.  This is a good idea as Queen Noah gifts us the God Worker’s Soul.  This is the job change item required to unlock the advanced orator, doctor, chef and maid jobs.

This is also a surprise to me.  I didn’t think we’d unlocking the third tier of jobs until part 3.  I’m wondering what progression TTR is leaving himself for part 3—maybe the advanced monster girl race unlocks?

Anyway, that’s the Fairy Isle segment done.  Next up we’re off to the world tree to find out what’s up with Queen Alraune.

-> Next: World Tree

(Yes, I know my update schedule has gone a little haywire of late.  Please bear with me while I try to get my now very late Valentine’s Day succubus fuckfest story finished.)

Text Play Monmusu Conquered World! part 18

Whoopsies on the bigger than expected delay.  I fully blame getting back into Monmusu Quest: Paradox (that Text Play is coming) and one of those rare weekends where I have to do non-writing work.  Anyway, Monmusu Quest: Paradox is for the future, we’re currently on Monmusu Conquered World and somewhere near the end (I think).

So where are we – part 18 I reckon.

We’re near the end now.  Big Fox and L’il Fox have already been dispatched.  So too has the Queen in Yellow, Hastia.

We’ve still got a few more pointless run-and-dodge filler sections to navigate first.  I think at this point even the game is tired of them as this segment is a leisurely stroll past devil bedrooms.  They don’t even seem that interested in Luka-clone and as the game seems to have run out of original sex anims to tempt us with, neither do we.

Then… succubus.

Yay, succubus, I think...

I’m pretty sure she’s just another sub-boss rather than one of the plot-important “generals”.  I remember Violated Hero 5 doing this with the succubus-esque Nightmare appearing seemingly at random in one of the end-game sections.  Doesn’t really make much sense, but they promised us a “lewd demon”, so let’s…

Loli or starved?

Hmm.  Not really a fan of this artwork.  Sure, I like them busty, but I don’t think it’s requirement that a succubus needs a pair of melons attached to their chest.  In this case she doesn’t look so much flat-chested as withered.  Is that what happens if a succubus doesn’t get her daily feed?  Enquiring minds would like to know.

Maybe we should start a sperm drive for the poor lass.  I’m sure there would be no shortage of volunteers.

The game doesn’t even bother with the first pointless unwinnable battle, it jumps straight to the Bad End scene where the succubus…

Oh fuck.

…pops us in her mouth like a piece of candy.

Hmm, you know what I was saying about your breasts earlier, succubus…

I am truly, deeply, sincerely sorry.

(pleasedon’teatmepleasedon’teatme)

I’m not sure whether we’ve been shrunk by magic or the succubus is really a giantess.  Either way, it’s the classic giantess vore scene.  The succubus gets us off with her big slimy tongue.  No real reason to.  I guess the “cream” gives a bit of tasty extra seasoning before the eventual gulp.

Down the hatch we go, Luka-clone.  Never mind.  The sword will…

…hey, do we even still have that magic sword?  I haven’t seen its graphic for ages.

You promised us a lewd demon, Dieselmine.

I think they’re trolling us, again.

I don’t mind vore.  I even dabble with it on occasion with my succubus and monster girl stories (okay, so maybe more than occasionally with the H-space stories), mainly because it plays so well with horror.  Not so much giantess vore, though.  That doesn’t hit any of my buttons, even if Karbo does draw some of the loveliest monster girls.

That plus the loli (sort of – it might be more accurate to call the artwork just straight-up strange) angle renders this a double miss for me.

For me, I should clarify.  For someone into the giantess fetish, this might be the scene that hits them right in the sweet spot.  That’s one of the great things about these games – they do try to cover a wide range of kinks.

One thing it did do for me was raise some interesting thoughts on the exclusiveness of some kinks/fetishes.  By exclusiveness, I mean the kinks that fall into the love or loathe category.  Taking giantess as an example.  Is it better to make a game with all giantess vore, or a game that covers it as part of a wide range of similar kinks?  For the all-giantess game, you know the audience is going to be really pleased with all the content, but that audience is likely to be very niche and consequentially small.  For the wider range option, you’re going to attract a wider audience, but the resulting game is going to be fairly diluted.  For example, if you’re only into the giantess vore side of things, is paying $20 for a game with 1 scene of interest out of 20 that appealing?

I suspect it comes down to the exclusivity of kinks.  Monster Girl Quest handled this with its vore toggle switch.  That way, the players that liked femdom monster girls, but really didn’t want their boner ruined by a graphic account of a starfish girl everting her stomach around Luka and digesting him to mush, could just flip a switch and not see that content.

(In care you're wondering – no, I don’t come with a vore-toggle switch.  I like my horror too much.)

Also, the creators of MGQ seemed to know which areas overlapped, and which didn’t.  So you might see Luka get eaten by a dragon with a sexy babe for a tongue, or wrapped in the stomach of a starfish girl, but you won’t see him get buggered up the ass by a big hairy bloke, or see Luka beat Alice black and blue with his fists and then throttle her.  Those audiences don’t really overlap (at least I’m fairly sure they don’t overlap!).

But this is too much digression (and another hint I probably should not have done this series without any machine translation).  I’m thinking this might be a topic for a future post.  Mapping out which kinks can or can’t co-exist would be an interesting discussion and possibly a useful resource for anyone thinking of making their own monster girl H-game.

Back to our Luka-clone-popping succubus and the question of whether she’s a giant or using shrinking magic is answered when we finally get to the real fight.  Her sex attack is paralyzing the player, putting them to sleep, and then riding the fuck out of them.

Succubus riding the fuck out of us

Now this is more like what I expect from a succubus.

Overall, Little Miss Succubus is a miss for me, but I’m not going to begrudge the game for including her.

Hopefully, we should now be back to the regular posting schedule, so I’ll see you again on Friday.

Hentai Game Review - Demon Angel Sakura, vol.2: The Spirits of Hell

Last year I did a Let’s Play and review of a crazy little action game, Demon Angel Sakura.  The follow up, Demon Angel Sakura vol. 2: The Spirits of Hell, is out and every bit as bonkers as its predecessor.

As with the original, Demon Angel Sakura vol.2 is a 2D action game where you fight a series of ginormous monster girl bosses by throwing magic fireballs at them while bouncing around a 2D arena.  Like a platform game, but with all the intermediate levels taken out so all that’s left is boss fights is the best way to describe it.  The text is also all in English, so you won’t need to fiddle around with machine translation for this game.

The story carries on from where the first game left off.  Sakura, an angel/demon hybrid who is either a cross-dressing male or a female with a dick (the game isn’t totally clear on this, although it does refer to Sakura as ‘he’ for most of the game), is trapped in hell.  Kazari, the fairy that loves Sakura, dives into hell to find him and is driven doolally by exposure to the ‘hell element’.  After resisting crazy Kazari’s attempts to consume him, Sakura departs on a quest to find a way to save her from being corrupted and destroyed by the hell element.  This takes him through various fights with ginormous predatory monster girls.

Size is no obstacle to horny Sakura.

In a change from the first game, Sakura is aided in these fights by a familiar, Kuroha.  Later on there’s an option to switch between her and Kazari.  As with the first game, if Sakura takes enough damage he loses his clothes – and in this game, familiar – and is vulnerable to sexy(ish – YMMV) binding attacks from his opponent.  There are variable difficulty settings and even the most useless at 2D platform games (i.e. me) should be able to get to the end on super easy mode.

There are eight boss fights in total.  Two of those have two different Bad Ends, which gives ten Bad End scenes in total.  The game is short (especially if you choose to breeze through it on super easy mode), but should be seen for what it is – an excuse to put together some lovely drawn and utterly depraved hentai scenes.  The artwork and animation is very good for what it is and the imagination behind them is positively filthy.  Even Luka from Monster Girl Quest and the various protagonists of the Violated Hero games would wince at the indignities visited on poor Sakura.

Um yeah . . . it's that type of game.

This game won’t be for everyone.  There’s a heavy focus on vore and most of the things that happen to Sakura are fairly gross, such as nearly being drowned in harpy piss or wedged up in a giant treant’s sweaty armpit.  You’re not going to find nice sex scenes with vanilla monster girls here.  The game is most appropriate for those with giantess and/or vore fetishes, as well as for those that derive amusement from seeing some truly twisted and perverse Bad Ends.

This doesn’t look like the last we’ll see of Demon Angel Sakura either.  During the quest to save Kazuri there are hints to a larger story, one that will no doubt be revealed in Demon Angel Sakura, vol.3.   I look forward to seeing what weirdness the developers come up with in the next instalment.
